Payment terms are where trust is either built or broken in an overseas project, and they are always clearer when the scope is separated line by line.
Most suppliers follow a similar structure, and knowing it in advance makes the negotiation faster and the contract safer for both sides.

The Usual Payment Structure
Amusement equipment is normally ordered with a deposit that starts production and a balance payable before shipment, sometimes split so that a portion is released after factory testing. Shipping costs, installation support and spare parts may be invoiced separately, which is useful because they fall into different budgets and sometimes different currencies. Ask for the full schedule in writing at quotation stage, not after the order is placed.
What the Contract Should State
A usable contract lists the equipment model by model, the drawings and specifications that define it, the delivery terms, the installation support included, the spare parts supplied, the training provided and the warranty terms. It should also state the currency, the payment method, the Incoterms rule for each shipment, and what happens if a party needs to change the scope.
Incoterms and Who Arranges What
Shipping terms decide where the supplier’s responsibility ends and the buyer’s begins – who books freight, who insures the cargo and who clears customs at the destination. Indonesian buyers often prefer terms that include freight to the discharge port, then handle clearance and inland transport locally with a familiar forwarder. Whatever rule is chosen, write it into the contract for each shipment rather than assuming the previous order’s arrangement still applies.
Protecting Both Sides
Deposit and balance terms protect the supplier’s production cost and the buyer’s delivery expectations at the same time, which is why they are standard. The practical protections for a buyer are clear scope documents, agreed inspection before shipment, and a defined process for reporting shortages after unloading.
