Specifying Against Salt and Wind
Coastal installations need hot dip galvanised or stainless fixings, sealed connectors and additional coating on exposed steel. Wind exposure also affects the operating rules: an anemometer on site, a written wind limit and a shutdown procedure protect both guests and the machine. Those three items cost very little and prevent the most expensive damage a seaside park can suffer.
Installation on a Working Promenade
Promenade projects run against tight site hours, so the installation was planned in stages around trading and public access. The platform went in first, then the frame and drive, then the upper structure and finishing. Deliveries were scheduled outside peak public hours, and the fenced site was kept small enough that the promenade stayed open.
Evening Trade and Ticket Design
Evening is the commercial peak. Lighting and music were programmed as a show, and the ticket offer was kept simple so families could decide on the spot. The park also trained staff to manage the queue in two waves: the post dinner rush and the later teenage crowd, which behave very differently and need different supervision levels.
The Weekly Routine That Keeps It Running
Salt air makes some jobs weekly rather than monthly. The routine covers rinsing and inspecting fasteners, checking the drive and brake, testing restraint locks and washing figure surfaces.
