In a tropical market, an outdoor-only park loses afternoons to rain. Adding an indoor play zone turns that loss into a second revenue stream on the same site.
The combination is one of the most resilient models we build for Indonesia: cheap to run outdoors, weather proof indoors, and one ticket desk serving both.

Family Fun Combo Package Specifications
The package combines an outdoor non-powered zone – slide complex, climbing structure, swings and sand play – with an indoor soft play centre containing a play structure, toddler area, ball pool and seating. Both zones share a single entry building, ticket desk, toilets and parking, and can be connected by a covered walkway so guests move between them without leaving the property. Delivery can be phased, with one zone opening first and funding the second phase.
Why the Combination Works in a Tropical Climate
Wet season afternoons are the biggest threat to an outdoor attraction’s revenue in Indonesia, where the climate delivers heavy rain for part of the year. An indoor zone keeps families on site when the outdoor rides are wet, and it lets the park sell combined tickets that work in every weather. Operators who run both usually report steadier weekday revenue than outdoor-only parks.
Linking Indoor and Outdoor Layouts
Design the site so guests pass the ticket desk before either zone, and place the indoor building where it can be seen from the outdoor seating so parents understand it is part of the same park. Keep the noisiest outdoor equipment away from the indoor structure where sound transfers, and make sure the indoor zone has its own capacity limit so a rainy afternoon does not overcrowd one area at the expense of safety.
Timed entry, staffing and maintenance
Timed slots regulate the indoor zone on rainy afternoons without turning guests away, and a single wristband can cover both areas. Staff rotate between zones, so training covers soft play supervision as well as outdoor checks. Maintenance follows two routines – daily equipment checks outside and hourly cleaning of play surfaces and ball pools inside, which is the approach we describe in our 300 sqm indoor playground layout guide.
