Flying chairs are the ideal coastal ride: guests feel the wind, the swinging motion is comfortable for families, and the machine is easy to run with a small team.
This project installed a flying chair ride at a coastal venue, with a specification adjusted for salt air and a routine built around daily inspection.

All figures are reference values and are confirmed in the engineering proposal for your site. Flying chair rides are the classic Chair-O-Planes type attraction, and the maintenance priorities never change: suspension, restraint and rotor.

Siting and Clearances
The ride needs its full rotation diameter clear of trees, lighting columns and fences, and the queue must sit outside the swing envelope. The venue selected a spot with an open aspect so guests photograph the ride against the sea, which helps attendance as much as the ride itself.
Coastal Specification
Salt air attacks fasteners, chains and painted steel first, so the specification used galvanised or stainless components, sealed electricals and additional coating on exposed parts. Rinsing and inspecting fasteners became a weekly task rather than a monthly one – a small change that extends the ride’s working life significantly.
Capacity and Operating Rhythm
Loading two sides of the platform with two attendants keeps cycles short, and because the motion is gentle, families ride more than once per visit. Operating rules cover restraint checks, height limits for children and the shutdown procedure for high wind.
Daily and Weekly Checks
The daily check covers chains, chairs, restraint locks and the emergency stop; weekly work reviews the rotor, drive coupling and brake. Suspension components are the wear items on any flying chair ride, so keeping spare links and connectors on site is standard practice.
Theme and Finish Options
Site-specific choices include: Chair design, canopy, lighting and colour scheme.
We build attractions rather than resell them, which is why technical questions come back as drawings instead of brochures – and why a 125,000 m² production base can absorb customisation without moving your delivery date. Thrill rides ship with structural calculations, load test records and restraint specifications for your inspection file.
Send your plot plan and height limit – we will return a layout showing safety clearances, footing loads and power demand.
