Disc rides have become the standard thrill anchor of mid-size parks because they deliver a big sensation on a modest footprint and pull a crowd from across the site.

The ride rotates a suspended disc platform while it swings upward and downward through the cycle, with guests seated radially and held by individual restraints. Construction is steel throughout, the platform and seating shells use moulded composite panels, and the drive and brake package is specified for the platform load and the rotation profile you choose. Lighting and sound are integrated so the ride reads as a show after dark.

Disc rides are sold in a range of platform sizes for a reason – each one suits a different park. Operators with tight footprints often start with a compact unit such as our brave disc ride and step up to a larger disc later once attendance proves the demand. The right question is not which disc is biggest, but how many guests per hour your site can actually load.

A disc ride works as a show, so plan it as one. Set the fence line far enough back that a crowd can gather without blocking the walkway, angle the platform so the highest point faces the main path, and keep the boarding gate on the opposite side from the viewing line. Service access to the drive room should stay clear of guest areas.

Rotation and swing both load the drive and the platform bearings, so these parts carry the shortest inspection intervals. Daily checks cover restraint locking, seat fixings, platform bolts and the emergency stop; monthly work reviews bearing play, brake response and weld condition. Wear is managed by friction control at the pivot and brake surfaces, which is why lubrication and brake inspection belong on the same checklist.
