Specifying for a Cold Climate
Cold climates demand different protection: low temperature lubricants in the drive, sealed and heated control cabinets, and finishes that resist freeze-thaw cycles. Drainage around the platform matters as much as the finish, because water that freezes under the base lifts concrete. Those specification changes are agreed at order stage, not discovered at commissioning.

The installation followed the standard four stage sequence – platform and centre column, rotating frame and drive, upper structure and stairs, then figures, trim and lighting. Figures and decorative parts were crated separately to protect painted surfaces, and the crew worked to the factory sequence so the upper floor was never loaded before the frame was aligned.
Winter Care and Annual Restart
A carousel in this climate has two operating seasons and one long inspection window. Before winter the drive is greased for low temperature, the canopy is checked for water traps and the platform is cleared of debris.
